ARCP Acronyms Defined

The Army Recovery Care Program uses some acronyms that may be new to Soldiers and their families. This reference sheet defines frequently used ARCP acronyms. Definitions were compiled based on the Army Recovery Care Program Regulation 40-58. Please visit wct.army.mil to learn more.

AR

Adaptive Reconditioning Program

AR consists of activities and sports conducted for wounded, ill, or injured Soldiers on a regular basis to optimize their well-beings, return them to active, productive lifestyles and help them achieve their short-term and long-term goals

ARCP

Army Recovery Care Program

The ARCP transitions Soldiers, their families, and/or caregivers back to the force and/or to veteran status, through a comprehensive program of professional development and achievement of personal goals. The ARCP used to be known as the Warrior Care and Transition Program.

CRP

Comprehensive Recovery Plan

The CRP supports Soldiers in returning to the force or transitioning to veteran’s status. The CRP employs six interdisciplinary processes in developing individual, although standardized, plans built with the support of the Soldier Recovery Unit cadre. The CRP allows Soldiers to customize their recovery processes and enables them to set and reach their personal goals

IDES

Integrated Disability Evaluation System

In accordance with AR 635-40, a single set of disability medical examinations that may assist the Disability Evaluation System (DES) in identifying conditions that may render the Soldier unfit, and a single set of disability ratings provided by Veterans Affairs (VA) for use by the Department of Defense and the VA. The DES applies these ratings to the conditions it determines to be unfitting and compensable.

MEB

Medical Evaluation Board

An informal process comprised of at least two physicians who compile, assess and evaluate a Soldier’s medical history and determine how the injury or disease will respond to treatment.

MRDP

Medical Retention Determination Point

The point in time in which a determination can reasonably be made whether or not further medical care will cause the Soldier to meet medical retention standards or render them capable of performing the duties required by their office, grade, rank or rating.

PEB

Physical Evaluation Board

The sole forum within the Army to determine a Soldier’s unfitness for duty as a result of physical impairment.

RCC

Recovery Care Coordinator

Department of the Army Civilians or contractors that perform case management and provide individualized, local support and assistance for assigned and/or eligible Soldiers or veterans and their families or caregivers throughout the Soldier’s or veteran’s lifecycle from injury, to returning to duty, or to transition into the civilian community. RCCs used to be known as Army Wounded Warrior Advocates.

RCMC

Reserve Component Managed Care

RM2

Reserve Component Managed Care

Reserve Component Soldiers (Component 2 and 3) not in Active Guard Reserve status who do not meet eligibility criteria will be managed remotely using the Reserve Component Managed Care (RCMC) program (COMPO 2) and the Remote Medical Management (RM2) (COMPO 3). RCMC is a program that remotely manages National Guard Reserve Soldiers who meet eligibility criteria. RM2 is a program that provides medical case management for non-complex United States Army Reserve Soldiers who are authorized evaluation and/or treatment while on active duty orders but who do not meet ARCP entry criteria.

SRU

Soldier Recovery Unit

SRUs provide critical support to Soldiers who have, or are anticipated to receive, a profile of more than six months duration, with duty limitations that preclude the Soldier from training or contributing to unit mission accomplishment; or the complexity of the Soldier’s condition requires either clinical case management or the Soldier’s psychological condition is evaluated by a qualified licensed medical or behavioral health provider as posing a substantial danger to self or others if the Soldier remains in the parent unit. SRUs used to be known as Warrior Transition Units.
