A San Diego native, Capt. G. Allan Hartung has dedicated 16 years to U.S. Army service. He commissioned in May 2010 from Officer Candidate School at Fort Benning, Georgia, and served in various leadership roles, including assignments at Fort Riley, Fort Stewart, and overseas tours in Iraq, Poland, and Korea. Most recently, he served as the S4 for the UNC Security Forces Battalion at the DMZ and as the USFK J4 Material Readiness Officer at Camp Humphreys. Hartung is currently transitioning through the medical retirement process at the Soldier Recovery Unit at Fort Stewart. Throughout his career and the challenges of the medical board process, he and his family have remained steadfast. Upon arriving at the Fort Stewart SRU, he was warmly welcomed and quickly discovered the transformative power of the Adaptive Recovery Program. A highlight of his recovery was competing in wheelchair rugby, a sport he had long admired.
Motto:
“I’m not OK but I’ll be alright.”
