Cpt. Carlos Rivera is an Army behavioral health nurse. The married father of four from Princeton, Texas is honored to represent the Army at the 2025 Warrior Games. Rivera is recovering at the Fort Hood Solider Recovery Unit from a lower back injury. The former professional volleyball player credits adaptive sports with building up his confidence again and helping him realize he can still be athletic and do things with his kids even though the affects from his injury will last a lifetime.
Cpt. Rivera enjoys pickleball, basketball, and racing cars. Learning to adapt opened new doors to sports he now plays, like wheelchair rugby, wheelchair basketball, and sitting volleyball. He says, "The coaches helped me adapt by making me realize that I can still be in the game and not just sit on the couch because of my injury.
