42 year old Cpt. Kyra Maggio proudly served in the United States Army Reserve for 12 years, during which time, she was honored to support missions in Korea, Kuwait, and Romania. In 2023, following her return from deployment, she was assigned to the Fort Carson Soldier Recovery Unit to begin treatment. The following year, she was transferred to the Fort Bliss SRU, where her wife is stationed. The SRU gave Cpt. Maggio a sense that she is not the only one getting this treatment.
Throughout her time at the SRU, Cpt. Maggio experienced an unparalleled level of support and compassion, which helped transform a challenging and demanding journey into one of healing. She expressed her sincere gratitude to Mr. Richard Dones at Fort Carson SRU and Master Sgt. Tim Holmes at the Fort Bliss SRU for their unwavering commitment to her progress and well-being. She is also deeply grateful to her wife.
