Maj. Amy Sparks has 15 years of service in the Army Reserve and Army National Guard. Following her deployment to Italy and Africa, which spanned 2022 and 2023, including her tenure as Company Commander, the 51-year-old Sparks was grateful to arrive at the Fort Bragg Soldier Recovery Unit. There, she was focused on her recovery, embarking on a comprehensive rehabilitation program that addressed the abdominal injury and ankle pain which resulted in a sub talar fusion, and chronic pain she had endured, allowing her to prioritize her physical and mental well-being.

Maj. Sparks considers herself fortunate to have experienced a sense of belonging and camaraderie during this challenging time in her life. As she moves forward, she is grateful for the support and opportunities that helped her navigate the challenges of recovery and rehabilitation. She wishes to express her heartfelt gratitude to her family and friends, who have been a constant source of support over the past two years as she recovered from her injuries.

Her introduction to adaptive sports has been a truly inspiring experience, and the opportunity to participate in the Warrior Games has been a powerful motivator for her. Maj. Sparks is eager to continue her journey, driven by the sense of purpose and belonging that she has found through her involvement in this program.
