Maj. Amanda Feindt joined the SRU after her family was impacted by the Red Hill Water Crisis in Hawaii. After suffering neurological, cognitive, and vestabular issues, she recovered at the Fort Belvoir SRU. After the water crisis, this avid swimmer developed a fear of water to the point that she thought she would never swim again.
Adaptive sports have helped her overcome that fear and has been the most healing part of her SRU experience. The SRU has provided Maj. Feindt an opportunity to seek medical treatment for her own injuries and heal from the trauma she and her family have experienced.
Quote:
“Training at Army Trials and getting to know the other athletes, hearing their stories, and being able to share my own story has been life changing.”
– Maj. Amanda Feindt
