Retired Spc.Colby Maury-Rice was born in Washington, DC and moved to Hattiesburg, Mississippi when he was 8-years-old with his family to help care for his grandmother. Spc. Maury-Rice was a student at Sacred Heart Catholic School from third grade until he received his high school diploma in May 2023. He chose to serve his country, and became a member of the Mississippi National Guard in April 2023. While participating at Soldier Readiness training in August 2023, he had a heat stroke, was hospitalized, and assigned to the Fort Benning Solider Recovery Unit to continue his military career.
In May 2024, Spc. Maury-Rice had the opportunity to visit with the "Wolfpack", the nickname of the Fort Benning SRU team, where he was able to train and compete with the Fort Benning adaptive sports team. He has represented the Fort Benning/Team Army at the Endeavor Games in Oklahoma and the Hartford Nationals in Birmingham, Alabama. He has also participated in the Pacific Regional Trials in Hawaii where he was awarded the "Heart of the Team" award from his peers. He is looking forward to participating on Team Army at the 2025 Warrior Games.
