Ret. Capt. Tony J. Smith, a retired Logistics Officer, commissioned from the United States Military Academy at West Point in 2019 and has served more than six years with assignments at Fort Bragg and Fort Hood.
On June 14, 2024, Smith suffered a near heart attack and blood clot that significantly impacted his health and military service. This medical event led to him being reassigned to the Soldier Recovery Unit at Fort Hood, in September 2024 for focused medical treatment and rehabilitation.
During his recovery, Smith was introduced to adaptive sports, which became a critical component of his physical and mental rehabilitation and provided renewed focus and motivation.
Competing at the Warrior Games represents perseverance, recovery, and continued service through sport. Smith credits his progress to God, the support of his family, fellow soldiers, and the Fort Hood Soldier Recovery Unit medical team.
Motto:
"Be Still. I’m right where I need to be."
