Sgt. Elon Smith is from Queens, New York. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 2019 as a 74D CBRN specialist. His first duty station was Fort Polk, Louisiana, before he transferred to Vilseck, Germany.

While stationed in Germany, Smith was diagnosed with acute kidney failure, which later progressed to chronic kidney failure. After hospitalization overseas, he transferred to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center to continue specialized treatment. In June 2025, he successfully underwent a kidney transplant and is now focused on recovery and rehabilitation.

Before his diagnosis, Smith was highly athletic and passionate about fitness. When he learned about the Warrior Games, he saw it as an opportunity to return to competition and proudly represent the Army.

Competing again and wearing the uniform in that capacity became a goal he is determined to pursue.

Motto:
"How you do one thing is how you do everything."
