Sgt. Nate Gepford served six years in the Oregon Army National Guard, where his first mission was supporting his home state’s medical response during the COVID-19 pandemic. He later supported a joint command before deploying overseas.

While serving in this demanding environment, he developed severe insomnia, anxiety, and depression. His behavioral health challenges worsened significantly during his deployment.

While struggling with suicidal ideations, Gepford met with a chaplain who convinced him to speak with a behavioral health specialist. He was medically evacuated, and after months of therapy, he experienced breakthroughs that taught him self-compassion.

This journey helped him rediscover a curiosity for the world and a renewed desire to live.

Motto:
"Man can take any form he wants. He can change it whenever he wants.”
