Retired Staff Sgt. John Michael Britton enlisted in the U.S. Army in July 2010, embodying steadfast dedication and adaptability throughout his service. Initially serving five years on active duty as a Military Police (31B), he transitioned to the Army Reserves, re-classing to a Combat Engineer (12B), showcasing his versatility and eagerness for new challenges. After a brief hiatus, he reenlisted in October 2020, returning to active duty as an Infantryman (11B), fueled by a profound sense of duty.
Stationed at Jo int Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Staff Sgt. Britton served as an Airborne Infantry Fire Team Squad L eader until an unfortunate accident altered his path, resulting in a right above knee amputation and a fractured right arm. Despite this adversity, his resilient spirit remains unbroken.
He competed in the 2024 DoD Warrior Games. This was a testament to his resilience, pushing his physical and mental limits while connecting with a community of fellow warriors. SSG Britton is grateful for the support of his family, friends, and fellow service members and lives by the belief that setbacks are just setups for comebacks.
