This Army regulation prescribes the policies and mandates responsibilities, operating tasks, and procedures for the Army Casualty Program. Casualty operations include casualty reporting, casualty notification, assisting Family members and beneficiaries with any associated benefits and entitlements, and working in conjunction with the Army Mortuary Affairs Program.

This regulation assigns responsibilities and provides guidance on patient administration in Army regional medical commands (RMCs) and military treatment facilities (MTFs).

Chapter 6 - Patients in special circumsstances - preparing and maintaining records for VSI, SI and special category (SPECAT) patients.

Chapter 4, Section II - Notification requirements for injured or ill

The JTR implements policy and laws establishing travel and transportation allowances of Uniformed Service members and Department of Defense (DoD) civilian travelers. It also implements station and certain other allowances. The JTR has the force and effect of law for travelers, and implements statutory regulations and law for DoD civilian travelers. Organizations are expected to take appropriate disciplinary action when travelers willfully fail to follow the JTR. However, unless stated otherwise in the JTR, the disciplinary action cannot be in the form of refusal to pay appropriate travel and transportation allowances.

Chapter 6 - Travel and transportation orders

Section 0305 - Invitational Travel Authorization (ITA) - explains how to determine a person's eligibility for invitattion travel and allowances eligible individuals may receive.

Section 0332 - Designated individual and non-medical attendant traveling to a wounded, ill or injured service member or civilian employee

This regulation sets policies and procedures for the preparation, disposition, and use of Army electronic and paper medical records and other healthcare documentation.

Chapter 2 - Confidentiality of protected health information (PHI); Addresses release of information when the paitent consents to disclosure.

Prescribes Army policy and responsibilities for the disability evaluation and disposition of Soldiers who may be unfit to perform their military duties due to physical disability. Implements the requirements of Title 10, United States Code, Chapter 61; DODI 1332.18, DODM 1332.18 (Volumes 1 through 3). Also prescribes criteria for Continuation on Active Duty ( COAD) and Continuation on Active Reserve (COAR) Status of Unfit Soldiers. (Chapter 6).

Establishes policy, assigns responsibilities, and provides procedures for referral, evaluation, return to duty, separation, or retirement of Service members for disability in accordance with Title 10, United States Code (U.S.C.).

The IDES is a joint DoD and Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) disability evaluation process. Under this system, VA helps DoD determine if ill, or injured Service members are fit for continued Military service and provide disability benefits to Service members and veterans, if appropriate. Service members found fit for duty continue their military service. Service members determined to be unfit for duty receive a single set of disability ratings to determine the appropriate level of DoD and VA disability benefits. Integration with the VA provides medically separated or retired veterans timely access to their VA Benefits.

Prescribes policy for wounded, ill or injured Soliders. Incoporates guidance for Special Compensation for Assistance with Activities of Daily Livining (SCAADL) as modified by DoDI adn DoDM 1341.12. SCAADL is a special monthly compensation for eligible catastrophically injured or ill Service members who require assistance with activities of daily living or who are at a high risk for personal safety and cannot live independently in the community without caregiver support. SCAADL, authorized by the Fiscal Year 2010 National Defense Authorization Act (Public Law 111-84), provides financial assistance for the non-medical care, support and assistance by a primary caregiver for the Service member.

This regulation prescribes the policy and standards for the Army Recovery Care Program. Establishes revised entry criteria for Soldier Recovery Units and prescribes the daily operations for the care management and rehabilitation of wounded, ill, and injured Soldiers. This mandated revision renames Warrior Care and Transition Program to Army Recovery Care Program and includes changes to program structure and units. This regulation implements Public Law 110–181, Sections 1611, 1613, 1614, and 1615, Title XVI; Section 12301(h) Title 10, United States Code; Section 481K Title 37, United States Code; DODI 1300.24; and DODI 6010.24..
